    4Him was an American contemporary Christian vocal quartet formed in Mobile, Alabama, in 1990 by four singers who had worked together in Truth. Signed to Benson, the group built its sound around tightly arranged four-part harmony, rotating lead vocals, and polished pop production, with lyrics aimed at encouragement and Christian witness. The 1994 album The Ride ranged from disco rhythm on "Shelter in the Rain" to the near-rock "Real Thing," while "Ride of Life" used roller-coaster effects as part of its arrangement. By The Message in 1996, Mark Harris's songwriting and the group's harder-edged material gave the formula more urgency. Hymns: A Place of Worship then recast familiar worship songs through jazz touches and studio pop, sometimes with elaborate results. They remained a vocal group first.

    In 2004, the four members decided to pursue solo work and new ministry opportunities, bringing 4Him's regular career toward its end. The group announced a final studio recording in 2005 and performed its last concert at Mobile's Cottage Hill Baptist Church on September 23, 2006. Andy Chrisman continued as a worship leader and recording artist, while Mark Harris developed a solo career that included The Line Between the Two in 2005. Marty Magehee and Kirk Sullivan also moved into individual music and ministry work. 4Him later made occasional reunion appearances, beginning with a 2009 cruise performance, but the quartet remained a concluded group rather than a continuing recording act.
