    Crystal Lewis is a contemporary Christian singer from Southern California who began performing as a teenager in Hi-Tops and joined the Christian rockabilly band Wild Blue Yonder, which recorded one album in 1986. In the 1993 The Bride, she sounds unlike light pop: jazz forms carry crisp, scat-like vocals while gospel and R&B supply weight. Most of the lyrics were written by Lewis and Brian Ray, whose direct devotional language suits her clear delivery. The Remix Collection moved toward rap, funky R&B and dance-oriented production without abandoning melodic pop. By Beauty for Ashes, the rap and urban beats were gone; keyboards, lower-register singing and retro-1980s arrangements had replaced them. Gold retained smooth pop while adding West Coast rock and a darker tension between faith and doubt.

    In 1992, Lewis and Brian Ray formed Metro One Music, the label that released much of her work during the decade. She also joined Nickelodeon's Roundhouse, extending her work into television while continuing to record. Spanish-language projects became a sustained part of her career, alongside later releases that included live music, Christmas material and the jazz album Rhapsody in 2019. Lewis released Together We Can in 2022 and issued the A Seasonal Thing series across 2023 and 2024. She remains a recording artist.
