    Kim Hill is an American Christian singer-songwriter from Starkville, Mississippi, who moved to Nashville after college and signed with Reunion Records. Her early work used edgy folk-rock and pop-rock, while her husky alto carried a country inflection without losing its rough edge. The 1994 release So Far So Good shifted toward mainstream country-pop, with songs about ordinary relationships and a country, blues, and gospel blend; it was distributed to Christian outlets through Reunion and to secular country outlets through BMG. After a three-year recording hiatus, The Fire Again moved in the opposite direction, using leaner arrangements and worship-centered writing. Her voice remained the constant: dusky, full-throated, and capable of moving from sparse acoustic settings to soul-inflected songs.

    After marrying and having two sons, Hill spent three years away from recording before making The Fire Again in 1997. By the following year she was producing Renewing the Heart Live with a worship team assembled for women's seminars, combining studio and live performances for congregational use. She continued leading worship at women's conferences across the country after her Star Song period. By 2008 she had also become a speaker and author, addressing single parenthood after the breakdown of her marriage. She released further albums during the 2000s and early 2010s, including Broken Things in 2006 and Sing in 2010.
