Out of Eden is an American gospel trio formed in Nashville in 1994 by three sisters from Richmond, Virginia, and became one of Gotee Records' early urban acts. Their music joined contemporary R&B and hip-hop production to tightly interwoven vocals, with lyrics that stated their Christian faith through songs about ordinary life and romantic love. The 1999 No Turning Back marked a move from their youthful presentation toward a more mature contemporary-urban sound, retaining loose hip-hop grooves while foregrounding the sisters' harmonies. On This Is Your Life in 2002, dance-pop and R&B remained central, but "Showpiece" and "Now I Sing" gave the group room to address sexualized expectations and use gospel textures. Hymns in 2005 widened the palette again, moving from pop and rock settings to acoustic and gospel arrangements.
In 2006, Out of Eden announced the end of its original 13-year run and issued a greatest-hits collection with one new song. The group had remained a sister act throughout its Gotee years: Lisa Kimmey, Andrea Kimmey-Baca, and Danielle Kimmey. Lisa had taken a producer role on Hymns, while the trio's public work thereafter largely moved away from the group. In September 2024, the three reunited under the Out of Eden name and released Lovely Day 3.0 through DARE Records, revisiting the song associated with their 1994 debut. The release marked the group's return after an 18-year break and coincided with its thirtieth anniversary.
