Polarboy was a Christian rock band formed in Kentucky in the mid-1990s by students preparing for youth ministry at Lexington Baptist College. Its early performances took place at church youth assemblies before expanding to secular venues in Kentucky and neighboring states. The 1998 debut Back From Nowhere combined acoustic guitar, tense bass lines and jangly electric passages with a clear, sometimes plaintive vocal from Pol Buckingham. The songs moved between interpersonal concerns and direct Christian themes, while frequent changes in tempo and texture could disrupt their momentum. The band found a more settled direction on 4008, shifting toward Southern rock with banjo, mandolin and gospel elements. Its strongest songs used driving as a setting for spiritual reflection.

In 2007, guitarist Joe Nawrocki said Polarboy was working toward a new album and hoped to release it the following spring, although the album never materialized. Pol Buckingham later recorded under his own name, releasing the Nothing Ever Lasts EP in 2025. Nawrocki was also credited with songwriting outside the band's releases, including a 2001 collaboration with Greg Walton.
