    The Echoing Green is an electronic pop band from Albuquerque, New Mexico, formed in 1992 as a duo before becoming primarily Joey Belville's project. Its early style, described by the band as "aggressive smile-pop," joined bright synth melodies to forceful dance beats and openly Christian lyrics about healing, compassion, and dependence on God. The 1998 The Echoing Green shifted away from the overt guitars of Hope Springs Eternal, using Deepsky-influenced production, ambient keyboards, electronic effects, and occasional scratching to create a fuller dance sound. Belville could place a Men Without Hats cover beside songs about spiritual pain without making either seem out of place. Supernova moved toward guitar-driven electronica and a more band-like live feel, while The Winter of Our Discontent returned to warmer synth-pop, darker textures, and increasingly personal writing.

    In 2005, BEC Recordings issued a special edition of The Winter of Our Discontent, replacing two songs from the A Different Drum release and adding material from The Story of Our Lives. The revision divided opinion because it improved some weaker passages while removing "Heidi's Song" and "New Gold Dream." The Echoing Green continued beyond the period covered by these records. In Scarlet & Vile appeared in 2011, with Belville and Chrissy Jeter remaining at the center of the project as the lineup developed around them. Later releases extended the music into darker electronic and industrial territory, and the 2020 collection Violent Whispers gathered songs from 2003 through 2018. The band was still active in 2026, with a new album titled In Definite Infinite announced on its official site.
