What were the folks at HM Magazine thinking with that Stryper poster in the last issue? I'm just an old lady. I'm 81 years old, and I've been through all the phases of the Christian walk — the honeymoon phase, the dying to flesh phase, the getting serious about the Word phase, and . . . holiness is where it's at. The fellas at HM apparently have yet to figure this out, 'cause that poster was anything but holy! If you look closely (and, oh honey, I wish you wouldn't!), you'll notice that half of those Stryper boys' stripes were of the color yellow, and half were black. We all know that yellow symbolizes cowardice and black symbolizes sin and the depravity of man. Do you want depravity hanging on your walls? I don't think so! It must be the 'last days,' with all that effeminate makeup, girlie hair extensions, and obscenely tight pants... My gosh, I'm ashamed to even mention this in mixed public! If HM truly cared about Heaven's metal, then they'd feature more manly photos, like what you might see in a professional hockey magazine — talk about real men!
Rhythms of Remembrance is a well-done techno-influenced project that breaks out from this Nashvillian label like a bad boy from the penalty box, spilling hair, teeth, and eyes all over the ice. Well, it mixes tame elements as well, but it's still like a brain-damaged spin around the ice rink . . . sprinkled with spoken Words from the Bible to heal the wounds.
