Breathe That Life is a rather mellow nine-song pop CD from California artist Brenda Christine. The packaging, vocals, and musicianship on this recording are all rather professional.
By and large, the music is a rather mellow ccm variety, with the exception of the heavier, more upbeat "Respond To Me" and "More Than A Miracle." As I said, all very professionally done.
The problems here are twofold: Brenda has a tendency to use the same type of vocal inflections from song to song throughout the record. This tends to make the entire project sound all too much the same. Improved vocal variety is a must.
Problem number two is that none of the songs are memorable. The ballads are unmoving, while the more upbeat offerings fail to leave me humming a chorus. All in all, I'm left totally non-plussed. The professionalism is there, now the need is for some variety and songwriting development to accompany it.
