It only takes one word to describe New York City's own Cementhead. That word is Farside. February Girls is their 3rd release and from what I have read about their past releases, they have more of a punk edge than a pop edge, but not on this release. Sounding like Farside isn't a bad thing, I am a pretty big fan of Farside but overall the album got a tad boring and it's only a 7 song EP. Another band that I could throw into the mix of sounds would be Japan's own Husking Bee. So basically if you mix Farside and Husking Bee you would have Cementhead. I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if there was some blending musical styles...more punk than pop I guess.
The production value of this album is subpar. It isn't horrible or even bad but it could have been a lot better. The vocals didn't blend well with the rest of the music and the drums were a little overpowering. I think this is a band that has a lot of talent but it hasn't been fully released...well not on this album anyway. I think they have a lot more than what they showed me on this album.
