Chariot has finally made their debut. This band of rockers from Florida has laid down eight songs on chrome tape. It's good hard rock that sounds very, very similar to Y&T. This is due predominantly to Paul Aviles' strong voice. The rest of the band backs him up with some good, solid rock and roll. Louis Filardo plays guitar, while Jim Pappadeas plays bass and Bruce Fleming drums. Each song here features good songwriting and musicianship. Chariot's strongpoint is probably their knack to keep a good rhythm going. They come up with good hooks without sounding slick and commercialized in the wimpy sense. They show a lot of potential to rock here. The ingredients I would add to their formula are time and improved songwriting. "Truth" is my favorite on the tape and is worth the $7 alone. It's a rousing rocker and a call for the doubter to "hang around a little longer/ Just take a look and see/ Cause the Truth will make you free." It features a really worshipful prayer: "Bring us back/ To calvary...bring us back Lord/ Bring us back, bring us back/ To where the Truth/ Can make you free." This one needs to be played on the air.
