On the evidence of his previous two albums, Forever and Not To Us, as well as the fact that he has penned some of the most endearing worship songs in recent memory, "All Fall Down" and "Forever," Chris Tomlin deserves his reputation as one of today's finest worship songwriters. What has worked for Tomlin is his ability to keep his songs balanced between sing-along tunes and the modern rock dynamic à la U2/Coldplay/delirious?. Best of all perhaps, his lyrics touch with spiritual fervor and scriptural truth.
Although in places on Arriving, some songs sound too close to the better elements of Not to Us, overall, this project continues to meet the high standards Tomlin has set for himself with songs like "How Great Is Our God," "Holy is the Lord," "King of Glory," and "Your Grace is Enough," listeners can rest assured that this worshipper will be lifting his hands to God in praise. Amen!
