D.O.N.
Degradation of a Nation
Reviewed by John Wilson
Missouri's D.O.N. shows here that there are still thrash bands that know how to use rage constructively. This band is obviously highly influenced by Nobody Special (which automatically merits five stars in my book), and they admitted it in the lyrics! Way cool!! I listen to the particulars, such as vocal diversity and how well complex arrangements come together, and D.O.N. delivers; each lead vocal line during most "choruses" is performed with just the right combination of inflection, aggression, and deliberateness. The outcome is riveting. Excellent, frank lyrics and an intense rhythm section complete this underground project, best compared with Suicidal Tendencies. D.O.N., like Torn Flesh and Nobody Special, proves not to be another boring thrash band, but rather a band that knows diversity. I am so pleased with this! Tour, boys! Take note, labels! I wanna hear more! Louder!! For ordering info, write: c/o CRUSADE, 8 NW 67th St, Gladstone MO 64118.
