Band Quote:"Deuteronomium is like a box of chocolates; you'll never know what you get"

Well that pretty much sums this first LP up. This CD contains a cocktail of: black metal, gothic, metal, hard alternative, doom, forest metal, hardcore, thrash riffs, and..well..reggae (arrggh!). I could only hear a trace of death metal (vocals) on one song. Don't let all these genres scare you away; this is a good album with GOOD production. Secular or Christian, I don't know of any band that can match the versatility on vocals. Because this LP is all over the place, here are the styles on each song:

    1.Street Corner Queen-metal
2.Druglord-Switches from intense thrash rhythms to full blown HxC back and forth. KILLER distorted/reverb vocal mixing, the vocalist sounds like he's about to cry then sounds like he catches fire!
3.Spell of Hell-Atmospheric black with smooth keyboard segments, and hints of death vocals mingled in.
4.The Fall-Black with whispering parts similar to Korn
5.Empty Shell-metal kind of '80ish sounds like Paradise Lost (not the death/doom band Paradise Lost..sorry.)
6.Human Nature-Again,-metal with a nice vocal solo in broken English (broken English reigns!), then part II of this song is Reggae/weakness (steel drums and all.)
7.Bonsai People-Starts with distorted/reverb vocals and a folky groove then strays into a replica of something from The Clash then mellow stuff similar to Life of Agony.
8.Black Raven-metal close to Metallica (Load), but a little harder
    9.C.C.R.-metal
10.III-Guitar sounds almost identical to "In my darkest hour" (Megadeth) then jams into black/goth. The instrumental part of this song taste just like "Rhyme of the ancient Mariner" (Iron Maiden) then some surf-style guitar, and ending with the talking style vocals HxC/punk bands abuse.
11.Northern Praise-Gothic metal w/some female vocals, harmonious guitar work, piano, and vocal solos.
12.Blue Moment (taken from the Tribal Eagle EP) same business as track 11.

All of the black metal on this is mostly atmospheric/artsy, not very dark and doomy. I can tell these guys from Norway are highly influenced by the 80's "Guitar Invasion" stuff (airy and lite), which i'm not very keen on. Also I'm not into every style this band does, though they do them all very well. This LP is well thought out and has a lot of heart behind it.I don't see myself ever getting rid of it.

The Phantom Tollbooth 1998Reviewed by Josh SpencerAaaaahhhhh....how refreshing this album is! Street Corner Queen is for every metal fan that gets tired of the every-song-the-same tendency of most extreme metal bands, as Deuteronomium joins Necromanicide in the "let's play as many styles of hard music as we know how on one album" approach. Except Deuteronomium does a much, much better job of it. This is unquestionably one of the best…Dead Zine 1998Reviewed by HadeSlayeRPraise God!! Finally a Melodic Death/Black Metal band that I can enjoy. It seems how hard it is to find Melodic Death Metal in the Christian scene. I bought this album hoping to find good black metal, but what I got was beyond my wildest dreams. Imagine Melodic Death Metal combined with an occasional shrill Black Metal, really good growl vocals, if only there were more versatile vocalist like…
