Double Edged lays down some heavy rhythms that cut the air with clarity and crunch. These guys, while still improving their music, have written three good songs here: "Bloody Promise", "No Trouble", and "Let My People Go". Influences like Judas Priest and early Motley Crue are easy comparisons to this straight-ahead metal with more muscle than frills. There's even a little fun, like the end of "No Trouble", where vocalist/bassist Mike Brown screams out the letters "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" and then mutters "I betcha didn't think I could spell it - did ya?" The title track suffers in the vocal lines written, which lack a real good hook, or melody. The vocals sound forced, rather than natural or really attacking and aggressive. "Waste of Time" is a musical departure - and vocal one as well, because guitarist James McElroy sings lead. It reminds me of the band Damascus. Pretty fare outing.
