Down To Earth Approach pulls no punches when explaining what they want to do, and what they hope to achieve with their music. Lead singer Jonathon Lullo states, "We don't want to reinvent the wheel; right now we just want to write some really good pop songs. We don't want to change the music scene, we just want to have our own place in it" in the band's bio. After listening to Another Invention it is obvious that the band wishes to merely exist, and not go beyond that.

If you are even a little bit curious about what to expect from this release I suggest you go back and listen to Saves The Day Stay What You Are and you will pretty much get a good idea of what to expect. This is standard guitar/bass/drums pop rock in the vein of Saves The Day, early Get Up Kids, and Jimmy Eat World.

Front man Jonathon Lullo sounds exactly like Saves The Day vocalist Chris Conley, just a lot more pitchy and whiny at times. Most of the tracks like "Exhibit of the Year" and "Books on Tape" are typical mid-tempo rock songs. The band picks it up on "Permanently" one of the better songs on the album. The songwriting isn't bad, it just gets extremely bland and the songs tend to run together.

Another Invention is exactly what Lullo and company were looking for, a collection of pop songs. The main problem with this record is that it has all been done before and done much better. This album is a carbon copy of what all the Vagrant Records bands were doing a few years back, whether it was Stay What You Are or Something To Write Home About, only this time around it sounds tired and completely bland.
