Within the music world, there is nothing I respect more than a blue collar band. The one band that is everything that would signify blue collar is Dropkick Murphys. They have been around since the mid-ninties and starting playing together in Boston in a barbershop basement...how much blue collar can you get than that? They play Celtic influenced punk rock full with bagpipes, mandolins and accordions. They have released a slew of singles and ep's and four full lengths. "The Warrior's Code" has to be the defining album of their career. This album has it all. It's funny with "The Wicked Sensitive Crew" and it's sad and reflective with "The Green Fields Of France" and "Last Letter Home" and victorious with "Tessie". It's just a great album from a great band. They pay respect to two hockey players who died on 9/11, one of their friends (Andrew Farrar) who died in Iraq, and they pay respect to their favorite baseball team, The Boston Red Sox. They have my respect for just keeping their roots and keeping their fans and friends still at the heart of their music and purpose. Great album and a great time.
