Eager
Reviewed by Curtis Spitzer
While listening to the debut from Eager, it's impossible not to think of PFR. Some of the immediate comparisons come because of the guitar-heavy nod to such classic rock bands as Badfinger, as well as the vocal harmonies and arrangements. Perhaps it's because PFR alum Patrick Andrew, who now shares lead vocals and plays bass in Eager, had a big say in the creative direction of the PFR swan song, Them. In fact, Eager seems to be the next logical step. While PFR may have cast a long shadow, the band members seem ready for the challenge. Greg Pope, who shares lead vocal duties and plays guitar, matches the strength of Andrew's presence. Guitarist Mark Kloos and drummer Paul Eckberg capably support the two front men. And, most of all, those who didn't like PFR all that much--and thought PFR was only starting to go in the right direction when they broke up--will find this new band Eager to please.
