Always susceptible to snappy titles and cool music, the band is still loaded to the gills with energy, as is evidenced by their rigorous touring schedule and the wild enthusiasm displayed at each show. This EP finds the band with increased tightness and more texture and variety in the horns. Lyrically, the band is still clever, but pointed. Songs like "One Girl Army" are such great songs in themselves that you don't need the fact that they're ska to be impressed by them. There's even an authentic cover of ELO's "Sweet Talkin' Woman." So many ska bands rely so heavily on horns, off beats, and checkerboard patterns to define their image and sound. Five Iron stands up, with or without these things, and consistently emerges as one of the more highly respected ska bands in the scene.
