I totally did not get what I expected out of this cd. Let me explain. Heaven's Metal did a review of this cd. The only part of it that was accurate was it's description of the vocals. Other than that, I'm not sure I would have been able to tell I was listening to the cd reviewed in HM under the same name. HM said that Forthwright was fast and crushing. They are neither. The guitars are not tuned down very far, as far as I can tell, and the speed is more of a slow groove type speed. Nothing like the fast and furious pace described in HM. So, it's not that I was disappointed with the cd, its just that I was expecting a totally different sound. The vocals are some of the coolest hardcore vocals I've heard. Sounds to me like some kind of effects are used but I can't be sure. If not, this guy has holes in his throat or something. The guitar work and drumming is no less than average. Also, this band will no longer be releasing anything due to a fatal car accident in which the bassist was killed. Maybe they'll play a reunion show in Heaven. The only really disappointing factor with this cd is its length. Only six songs, short enough to be an EP. Why then is it sold for as much as a Paramaecium cd with 7 songs of three times the length as Forthwright's songs? No one will ever know I guess. Basically, if you are thirsty for some new hardcore because you played out all your other stuff like Overcome, Zao, Set Apart and Frodus, then get a hold of this cd if you can. It's getting pretty rare. I was lucky to get my copy. Overall, it wasn't a bad purchase and I'm glad I didn't pass up the opportunity to get my hands on My Soul Secure. I would have kicked myself for a long time out of curiosity if I hadn't.
