Seeing as this album has some fairly annoying screaming in much of the vocal delivery, I'll say that firstly, you will need to give this album more than a couple listens to get past the mediocre vocals. If you can get past the vocals, you'll find some very good hardcore/thrash music here that transits seamlessly from thrashy guitars to points where it almost sounds like the ever-over-rated secular Korn. Mind you, it doesn't sound like the "Christian answer to Korn" here but it does do some justice in that area of music. Interestingly enough, there are also a few points when it seems as though the band has taken some interest in death metal in their influences.

Having listened to this band's demo material I would have to say that I was extremely surprised to hear how they have matured. From the days of "nothing is new" to the now very emotional lyrical content of Christian vs. man, they say some very interesting things. There are also standard Christian metal times of praise lyrics... but they are very tasteful and well-written.

Musically, this band is missing some production intensity, but with some good presence and better recording, this could be one monster of a sound if I do say so myself (and I do). There is quite a bit of talent within the group that seems to be pointed in the right direction. Songs like Fear is the Enemy and well, almost every song on this album proves without a doubt, that this band can bring some hard-hitting hardcore/metal into a nice package....

Overall, buy this album and support the band and good metal. My only real complaint would be that I don't quite know why the musicians don't keep their friendship with the vocalist and find someone better. This band could be so good... but the vocals will turn too many away for them to get the rightful support in my opinion.

HM Magazine #83Reviewed by A Girl Called GordonHard, rhythmic, pounding, driving, yelling, growling; this is hardcore. The thing that caught me on this disc is the vocals. They are good. The rhythms and style that the lyrics are placed into are wonderful. All this is backed up by guitars, bass and drums that drive and force them to go further. This disc may have come out in December of 1999, but it will last forever. This kind of music is…Art for the Ears 2000Reviewed by Marco PovervestThis is an American band on the Australian label Rowe Productions. Gnashing Of Teeth plays metalcore and sometimes it's closer to metal than to hardcore (Everythink) and vice versa (Fear Is The Enemy). But it's not as chaotic as other bands in this genre. This self-titled disc appears to be a re-recording of their debut-CD entitled Outer Darkness. The vocals are brutal screams and the guitars are…Dead Zine 2000Reviewed by SORGThis cd kicks!!!!! I wasn't expecting to like this a whole lot but after repeated listens I can safely say this Ohio based band have come up with a competent and modern sounding album. The closest comparison I can make is that the style of the music (and even the vocals at times) is a lot like Erase or Mindrage except GoT have a lot more tempo changes. Thick downtuned guitar grooves and some…
