With the CD cover and the disc itself packed with photos of their friends, Holiday Runner's self-titled split album of sorts is a fun and sentimental studio project of Jesse Sprinkle (Poor Old Lu, The World Inside, Morella's Forest, Serene), Ryan Beatty (Serene), and Matthew Green, who provides all piano tracks. It is a split in that Sprinkle and Beatty "switch off songs," with Sprinkle offering six songs, and Beatty five. Both offer their usual sweet vocals and soft melodies, with simple but well mixed instrumentation, as well as experimental nuances that are not overbearing. The vibe of the CD is special, with a multiplicity of amusing audio samples from friends, like Mike Knott, Sydney Rentz, Annie Quick, Seven Head Division, etc., as well as from that terribly under-appreciated Ben Stiller comedy, Mystery Men.
