Indianapolis band Jacob's Patience (recently signed to Blue Jankey Entertainment) have released a self-titled EP that may become a collector's item somewhere down the road, assuming the band finds a producer and continues to improve.
"Fragile" sounds like lo fi metal, sort of an acoustic version of Stone Temple Pilots...you keep waiting for the guitars and drums to kick in, and it never happens. The vocals are buried in the mix here. "Straddle" is much better, a rootsy acoustic song about forgiveness and redemption.
Vocally, Adam Baker ranges from Live to Seven Mary Three to Nate Houge. "Far From Grace" is much like "Straddle", while "Unconditional" and "Redemption" segue nicely one to another. The latter features a piano interlude at the end that fits it well. "It's Time" closes the disc and is reminiscent of the old Poison song, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." Look for bigger things from this band to come soon.
