I might as well confess that I love old-fashioned Gospel music. This Norwegian group takes gospel music to a new level. Imagine gospel standards and hymns with a contemporary laid back jazzy arrangement and you have Janne Hagens Gospel Combo. A warning -- Don't get too laid back. As soon as I decided that I had this group pigeonholed, they picked up the tempo and rocked with "Where do I go from Here". The highlights of the album are JHGC's original material which blends in very nicely with the rest of the album. It will be a shame if this fine debut doesn't find wider distribution in this country.
