Jettie. A band a knew very little about before I got "Heading for Mornings" to review. The first thing that stuck out when listening to it was how talented the guys all are. The music on the CD is very nice to listen to. I'd use the word 'beautiful', but I don't think it's quite that impressive, but nevertheless the music is nothing short of breathtaking.
Lead vocalist Clas Bohman has a smooth voice that fits the softer sound that the band plays nicely. The addition of piano, organ, violin, and cello on several tracks seems to really complete the band's sound. There are some moments when all of the instruments blend together in such an amazing way that I'd stop whatever I'd happen to be doing and just listen. The sound Jettie produces on this album is really that wonderful.
My favorite tracks are "Aimie Rain" and "Silence Knuckles and Combats". As far as negatives, nothing really stand out...but there are a few nitpicks I have. One being "Heading for Mornings" can get kind of dull at times. It's not so much repetitive, it's just all of the songs have such a similar styling to them. The only other thing is that I wish the vocals were a little louder in the mix. It makes it hard to hear Bohman's singing at some points in the record. However, these small miscues don't overshadow the work of art "Heading for Mornings" is. This is definitely a must-have for lovers of softer indie rock.
