Kim Snyder bills herself as "CCM with a whole new attitude". Day By Day doesn't do a lot to quantify this promise, but Snyder does show a lot of versatility on her debut project. Her press photos strongly resemble Amy Adams from this year's version of American Idol, but her singing ranges from modern rock ("Day By Day") to jazzy/r&B soul styling ("Tell Me True).
"Right Way" reminds me more of Buddy Holly or Roy Orbison than anyone else, while "Freedom" could be the song Deee-Lite never recorded in the early '90's -- it opens very much like "Papa Don't Preach" by Madonna, then careens into a techno rave up. "Until You" falls into the power diva Kelly Clarkson/Mariah Carey/Celine Dion mode.
While Snyder has a strong voice, and isn't afraid to try many styles...I have to fall back on American Idol one more time. As Randy Jackson has been wont to say on numerous occasions: "It was just 'a-ight' for me".
