You're trying to create the perfect Christian Metal band. You begin by combining GROMS with Metanoia and throw in a little Crimson Thorn for good measure. The result: Mexico's Lament (formerly known as Beheaded). But you're not finished. You decide that not only is the music going to be great, but so is the production. You get Jeff Sheetz to produce it. The end product is an incredible blend of 90's Thrash mixed with a little grind, melodic in places, and polished with some classy guitar solos--some of which were provided by Sheetz; and some of the clearest sonics I've ever heard. Notice too the incredible blending of acoustic and electric guitars as well as the jazzy asides. Believe me, when Steve Rowe said that Lament's music was fresh he was not hyping up the album. If you don't like this disc you need to start listening to Elton John. Tears Of A Leper is one of the best Christian debut's ever, along with Ethereal Scourge--and if you think I'm hyping now wait until Covenant's debut comes out! Finally, the subject matter here is right on target. It doesn't happily waltz around the tougher issues but deals with them directly. Check 'em out.
