These guys come from Florence, Alabama and they call themselves Liberation By Blood. I like the name. They play Flo-town metalcore. Simple, yet effective. But here's a rundown on this demo EP...
The first track "Peace Be Onto Thee" starts off medium fast and the vocals are a high pitched scream, not like Narcissus, more like Dallas of Underoath, but not really. Then a little later in the song, the brutal, low vocals come in with the slow pounding riffs and heavy drums. I really enjoy the duel vocals, especially when the band has both high and low vox. The last part of the song has some high pitched out-of-tune guitar chords, another thing I like. I was ready for the next song.
"The Process of Liberty" has to be one of my favorite tracks on here. The thing that makes this so is the acoustic guitar break. It plays a riff twice, then the quiet talking vocals, light drums, and octave guitar chords behind the acoustic reminded me SOOOO MUCH of "Desire the End" by Zao off Liberate.... Then it gets heavier with the same riff, and the song ends nice and brutal.
The fourth track "Rebuke" starts off with the vocals sharing duties every other riff, then after a little bit, the song slows down only with heavy drums and one guitar doing high pitched out of tune chords. Sounds great. Then the low vocalist sounds his lowest, I think, when the other guitar and bass enter doing to low ends. The song ends with a riff that Dredge (my band if you've forgotten) uses in Reborn (if you will). I like that riff a lot.
This demo EP is great, I like it a lot. Lots of things that I like include, which goes for most bands, if you recall: dual vocals, high pitched out-of-tune guitar chords, acoustic breaks, and dance parts! If you get a chance, please order this EP direct from the band themselves; I think you'll enjoy it.
