Here is a seven song demo from a young band you're bound to hear more from in the future. I had the opportunity to talk with Tadd Mencer before writing this review and found out that it took only three hours for them to pound out this tape. I hate to say it but the quality and therefore the rating here, shows this with perfect clarity.
I've got to address the two songs on this tape that really should not have been included. The first of them being the anthem type song Lifeblood. These lyrics should have been thought out a little more. I'm sure it's a fun song for the guys to play live but on tape the repeated "We're Lifeblood, Lifeblood, Yeah yeah yeah" gets old after about...the first time through. To make this short and bitter the first song on the tape Fight Fight Fight, as the title suggests, offers us lyrics here as well that are well less than interesting. The saving grace for Fight Fight Fight is that the music is decent. The rest of the songs all have good lyrics that really cut to the heart of being a Christian and the love for God, after all you've got to like a song that is just called Jesus Christ!
Over all, ALL the music is decent, but nothing really JUMPS off this tape and just takes you over. With a sound reminiscent of bands like Tourniquet (musically not vocally) there is a lot of room for this band to blossom into something really good.
However with the quality of this tape I can not honestly recommend you checking into it. This is best left as a demo for the guys to pass out to possible labels cause it does show their ability. Oh, and if you plan to see them this summer as they possibly tour with Embodyment, you may want to grab a copy just to be familiar with the songs.
They've got a great web page so check this band out.
