In a world where Beck and Tom Waits ruled the airwaves, you might already be familiar with Lucid Dreaming. Although the production value of this record leaves something to be desired, the songs are all rather ambitious musical experiments. Instrumentation ranges from the usual lead and rhythm guitar track to including the sitar and tabla on another.
The songs are a rather broad mix of subjects ranging from adapted shanty songs to a creative comparison of television to the "dark arts." At sixteen tracks the album could have stood a bit of pruning to create a more cohesive whole, but each song is worth listening to and one of the benefits of releasing an album independently is creative control.
