The Chicago based independent band Never Enough has been making national headlines with their new album Papier Mache Heart, mostly due to their extensive touring, which has earned them an amazing resume of achievements.
The guys spent the summer of 2000 on the road promoting tunes from the disc, most notably at Cornerstone and the Chicago date of the Warped Tour at the World Music Theatre. At the Warped Tour, they played with Green Day, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Suicide Machines, and the Long Beach Dub All Stars. Such a show led them to land on Best Buy and Ernie Ball's Battle of the Bands for this year, allowing fans to vote for the band as their top unsigned band at www.ernieball.com/battle4. If the band gets picked as a fan favorite, they are then eligible for a recording contract through spinrecords.com. Such achievements have come from the strength of Papier Mache Heart and the group's maturity growth since their inception in 1994.
On this project, the band sounds very tight and put together, boasting a driving alternative rock sound on some songs like "Breathe in, Breathe Out," and then toning things down for an emo sounding "A Remembering Stone." In addition, the guys throw in a beautiful worship styled ballad for the title cut, showing that they've stuck to their spiritual roots despite the mainstream attention. The tune sounds like a Skillet styled worship song, featuring the uplifting background assistance of female vocalist Autumn Hansen.
Never Enough runs the gamut of sounding like The Juliana Theory or The Promise Ring to Bush or Chevelle. They're destined to follow in the footsteps of the fellow Chicago group Chevelle to getting a recording contract and hitting the road more extensively in support of the disc.
