They are called Norway but they aren't Norwegian. Hailing from Southern California, they have some weird ideas of what Norway might look like which is nice, I guess. Anyhow, Norway is a new Plastiq Musiq band which plays a synth-pop style music similar to The Echoing Green, Joy Electric, Erasure, or the Pet Shop Boys. The band is made up of Eric Melzer and Doug Huibregtse. While Huibregtse's voice isn't quite on par with Joey Belville's, but it gradually grows on you. The songs are mostly about relationships and have those steady infectious beats that remind one of The Echoing Green. You know the type of song. The kind you just relax and enjoy with that silly happy grin that synth-music always brings or you jump to your feet and start dancing. My favorite song was their cover of the Undercover song, "Jesus Girl."
