This band's potential is enormous, judging by the quality of the 7 tracks this demo contains. Heavy metal: that is what OVERDRIVE plays. The choruses are catchy enough for the pop metallers ("Bring Out The Big Guns", "Hellbound", "Rodent Of The Piper",...), but the heavy is enough of a smash for the moshers ("Crusade", "Mark My Words",...) The two guitarists are impressive ("Hellbound", "Living Sacrifice", "Mark My Words"), and the drummer has a whale of a time ("Mark My Words", "Crusade").

OVERDRIVE also offers a slow ("Shelter And Strength"). But the general tone of the demo is very heavy. The band's weak point is at the level of the vocals: Doug LEVY has poor command of his vocals. And too often, his voice gives an impression of fragility. It lacks muscle. Perhaps with time and practice, Doug LEVY will become a good vocalist. In spite of his airy flights ("Rodent Of The Piper", "Living Sacrifice"), Doug lacks substance and power.

Where the words are concerned, OVERDRIVE does not mince them... It lays right into you... Mind you, if the neighbor's house catches fire, are you going to knock before going in...??
