The new album cover art alone is almost reason enough to buy the re-release of Snuff the Punk, P.O.D.'s early 90's debut. The re-mixing and re-mastering of the album has made a huge difference. As I switched back and forth between the original and the new release, it's obvious how much the dynamic range has increased, and all the levels have been raised. Of course, the songs haven't been re-recorded, so it's essentially the same, it just sounds 10 times better. The difference in quality between an indie release, and a big-budget major label release. It all goes to show how much of a difference a quality mixing and mastering job can affect your album. Even if you have the original, if you're really a fan, this is worth picking up.
For those who've never heard the album at all, especially fans who've just become fans since the release of The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, this is your chance to hear the roots of the rap-core superheroes. This should also dispel any previous accusations in the mainstream press that P.O.D. are just johnny-come-lately's jumping on the tail end of the rap-core phenomenon. These boys are part of the original crew, forging new ground since 1992.
