Anyone out there familiar with Society's Finest? Maybe then you will remember the split they did with My Spacecoaster. Imagine a cross of that older Society's Finest and the new Society's Finest and you'll have a pretty good idea of what Point of Recognition sounds like. If you want, just pick up the Living Is Our Example cd and check out the first track; it's Point of Recognition. Unfortunately, pretty much every song on this cd sounds the same. Point of Recognition has a cool sound for about 5 minutes, 10 minutes tops. Then it just starts to seem like they are playing the same thing over and over again. Their message is solid but doesn't help their lack of variety out at all. Each aspect of this band is good but not great. Nothing about this cd seems to strike me as exceptionally good or as standing out above anything else. The vocals remind me of a cross between the old Society's Finest vocals with just a touch more metal. The drums are pretty typical, nothing noteworthy. The guitars are also good but not outstanding. Do I think you should get this cd? Yeah, you should support these guys. Besides, it's not bad at all. But if it comes down to this cd and another cd that you know is good, go with what you know to be good. I just traded three cds to Cross Rhythms that I never listen to anymore so I'm happy. However, if it came down to either buying this cd or eating tomorrow, get some food (unlike how I spent money I needed to use on food to replace my new Zao cd).

HM Magazine #81Reviewed by David M. PoggeFans lamenting the loss of the early 90's hardcore to the new metalcore sound need not despair any longer; Point of Recognition is here to fill the void. 11 songs of ferocious old school hardcore are included on this CD, bringing new vitality to what seems like a dying genre. Critics, put the toe tag away for now; this scene has life in it yet. Guitars are shredding in that hardcore style that we…Bandoppler 1999Reviewed by John SantMan, for anyone who longs for the days of good ol' Spirit-filled hardcore without all the politics has to check out these guys. Plain and simple, straight ahead hardcore, and get this, they have TWO vocalists. Yep. Jason, one of the vocalists, does a Dan Weyandt ZAO thing (he was doing it before Dan was), and the other vox, Aaron, actually sounds like Shawn Jonas, maybe deepthroating it. These…Dead Zine 1999Reviewed by GrindboyWell, Fletch pretty much hit this one on the head. This is very decent hXc/metalcore type stuff that's solid but generally unspectacular. I've never actually heard Society's Finest, so I can't compare to them, but the band that I think of while listening to POR is Chalice, and also Zao to some extent. A worthwhile addition to any cd collection, but never going to be a cornerstone. Other than…
