The music is hot, upbeat, and reminds me of a couple of my favorite groups-Dakoda Motor Co. with the energy level of MxPx. The guys of Pspazz have put out one outrageous album in Missile Toe, and with a sound like this, they could very well be destined for bigger and better things.

One thing is for certain-I would never have guessed from listening to this group that they have Hawaiian roots. This is certainly not music for dancing the hula or your typical Hawaiian luau, but it has a sound that kept me listening from beginning to end.

The music and the lyrics are varied and that is a welcome relief to my ears. For those out there looking at the lyrics of today's Christian artists to determine their ministry, I could direct you towards several of their songs: "A Freak Who Loves God," "Let Go Let God," or "Roller Coaster." But be forewarned-Pspazz is a group who also just likes to have fun in their chosen work, as evidenced by songs like "B.O. Juice" (yes, it really is what you stink-I mean think) or "Rubber Ducky." (I tried to find spiritual meaning in the cleansing power of the bath, but couldn't quite connect it to the lyrics.)

In "Roller Coaster," lyricist Kyle writes about the life experience of a friend and compares it to a roller coaster ride. He closes the song with these words:

My good friend, feelings aren't good To this day, I thought you understood Feelings come and feelings go But His word is the way to go.

Simple, straightforward, and easily understood-sung to a beat that's beyond just good. Whatever the message of their song is, that is what Pspazz is all about. They are different, by their own admission, as evidenced in "A Freak Who Loves God":

I'm a freak I'm a weirdo But I love God above Cuz that's what really matters. I'm a pspazz I'm a monkey But I love God above. That's what really matters.

For me, and I trust for you too, that really is all that matters!
