I am pretty indeterminate about this album. If it is a joking jab at musicians taking themselves too seriously, then I can get into it. If that was the intent behind A Grim Misadventure, I might give these guys a thumbs up and say, not too bad.
I have the sneaking suspicion that the Red Orchestra is not joking though, that they do take themselves seriously. They employ simple electronic beats, (and don't mistake simple for minimalist,) in a very annoying way. They sound like kids with a new toy. Every sound effect is used in an oft repeated way just to make sure that we know they have a synthesizer. I had the hardest time reviewing this album, not because I didn't know what rating to give it, but that I couldn't make it through the entire album until the fifth time around.
