Even though the production quality on this tape is not that great, it's obvious to see that Red Sky is one hot band. There are various special effects throughout the 5-song tape, and they are used effectively, making you wonder what's about to happen next. The musicianship of this band is great. Craig Erickson is a fantastic guitarist, who had to be influenced by Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai. Kerri Collings is a double bass drum maniac, while Joey Martelle could easily pass for Rick Cua on vocals. Of the three actual songs on this release ("Sunset" and "Morning" being instrumentals), "Surrender" is the best. "I want you Lord, before I burn/I've committed sins I know are wrong/Temptations here get much too strong/I give up Lord/Take me now." The lyrics are packed with emotion. Great release. I can't wait 'till they're able to put something of album quality out.
