Rescue began as a side project featuring members of Wafflehouse, Mycomplex, and Fordirelifesake, but after some positive live show reviews, it became the members' main priority. Volume Plus Volume Plus is a 2-disc re-release of their debut EP and full-length on Dead Droid Records. Musically, Rescue plays an all-too-common blend of screamo and rock, complete with cliché-laden lyrics and breakneck tempo changes. Some of the songs take a few listens before they become tolerable, and while the intricate guitar lines can be interesting, they can't really grab your attention because of the busyness of the other instruments. Volume Plus Volume Plus, is not a bad listen, but there is really nothing that jumps out to compel you to keep listening to it. There is a detectable influence of bands like Braid and Hey Mercedes with a little bit of Finch thrown in too. If you are a fan of start-stop screamo or any of the aforementioned bands you might want to give Rescue a listen, but there really is nothing great here.
