Bleeding Heart

This British outfit serves up some straight-up metal. Some of the galloping rhythms get a bit tired, but overall it's a decent flashback to the days of the "New Wave of British Heavy Metal." The hooks have been heard before, but it can be fun to reminisce. Sensitive ears may not appreciate the use of the word "damn," even though it comes in the context of blatant injustice and hypocrisy in the song "Awake!" The scathing rebuke is bold: "...They cry of sex and fornication / Between a lover and her man / They put a book of rules upon it / But for the clergy, who gives a (bleep!)?" The theme to the album, if there was one, seems to be messages of salvation and His return, as well as a longing for the wayward female. The leads in "Red Alert!" are well done.
