The category is music and the answer is, "Atmospheric music...from the urgency of U2 to acoustic, folky, gentleness of 10,000 Maniacs to the lushness of The Moody Blues." The question is "What is Stinging Rain?"

Actually, Stinging Rain is the independent band that is continually building a strong name for themselves in the ever-growing music industry of this twisted planet we call Earth.

Stinging Rain has released a new album (actually it's a six-song E.P.) and it's hot. "The Dream" (their new album) is nothing short of enchanting with the effects of transcendental implications of freedom and unrestrained peace. The vocals are pure. Nathan Depew has one of my favorite voices to listen to because its simplicity conveys a message of reality. He sings from the heart with utterances of sensitivity.

The album, "The Dream," has a song on the ACM Journal (the compilation disc we discussed a couple weeks ago) called "Like A Child." It's a terribly beautiful song about love. It's full of truth and it opens the album on a universal note of the contentment in finding love. "Love is wandering like a child, through the mist and rain, blue-eyed and mild. Love is wondering like a child, and heaven sings with a single smile."

But the best song on the album has got to be "Beautiful Dancer." This is a slow, relaxing song that gradually builds into a dreamy cry colored with romance. "Dreamer ride the wind tonight, with motion soft like sheep, flowing into Love's Pure Light, that you must always seek, and so goes another day, and so goes another day, beautiful dancer, dance with me tonight, and I will take you there."

Truly an unforgettable expression of purity, "The Dream" is a masterpiece and Nathan Depew is a poetic artist. To order "The Dream" send $5 for the tape or $10 for the disc and add a buck for shipping to Rain Productions, P.O. Box 52, Grove City, PA 16127.

Four men, one voice expressing the human condition and the reality of love. "Beautiful dancer dance tonight, move through the air, shimmering face by candlelight, see you stand and stare, and so goes another day, and so goes another day, beautiful dancer, dance with me tonight, and I will take you there."
