Most people don't realize it, but Susan Enan is quite possibly the best female singer / songwriter for a serious music listener to get their ears on these days. Hailing from Northern Ireland, she is an artist who has yet to receive much recognition, but one listen to her breathtaking EP is enough to convince the listener that this girl is pouring herself out into her music and it shines through in a beautiful way.
All of the songs are meaningful, well-written, and soothing. Driven by the gorgeous voice of Susan Enan. Piano and acoustic guitar are the instrumental framework that Enan builds the album inside of. "Moonlight" begins the five-song EP as Enan's soothing voice spreads out the words smoothly like butter: "You and me are a small mystery. Moonlight, moonlight, moonlight." Perhaps the best moment to be found here is "Skin, Bone, and Silicone" which finds Enan singing, "Cling to what you treasure and treasure what you hold. How long until my sun goes down?"
The only complaint I can find with this EP is that it is just an EP. We need a full-length album from Susan Enan and quick. She's certainly found a faithful listener in me.
