Celtic folk...from Chicago? Exactly. The four members of The Crossing, who reside in Chicago's Jesus People USA community, have put together some well-crafted music here, replete with highland pipes and dulcimers.
In keeping with the traditions of highland music, the focus here is largely on instrumentation. And there are plenty of instrumental rides here; it's easy to picture yourself standing on the moor overlooking the sea, waiting for what's coming. The vocals blend well with the music, never overpowering it.
This album is a great addition to the collection of any fan of Celtic sounds.
