It may be too late to see the Curse, they only have two shows left to play before they call it quits but it isn't too late to get the album. The Curse comes from Philadelphia and has contributed to the rebirth of the Philadelphia scene. The Curse contains members of Paint It Black, Kill The Man Who Questions and Step Ahead. They play a style of punk rock that, I believe, is purely east coast. In the vein of another Philadelphia band, Kid Dynamite, also Trial By Fire and Kill Your Idols but they remain original.
For a new band, a debut release and relatively unknown record company, the recording is very good. The lyrics stay very true to what punk rock should be all about. In a time where singing about politics is virtually non-existent, The Curse does it their own way.
This album is a keeper for my collection. They put on a great live show and I will be able to see them play one last time at the Kid Dynamite reunion show.
If you like Kid Dynamite, SOA, Kill Your Idols and fast and hard punk rock, you will love the Curse. It is truly a pity that they are breaking up. Try to get this album anyway.
