The Deluxtone Rockets are a swing/rockabilly band from western Michigan with a little 50's bebop thrown in for good measure. Their self-titled debut album came out this summer from Tooth and Nail records. The band's influences include some of the classics: Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Buddy Holly.
Their sound is unbelievably tight, stopping on a dime and jumping up for more. If you're not tapping your foot and at least wishing you could dance, you're probably dead. Stand out songs on the album include 'Hi-Fi Daddy,' 'You Get Burned,' and Johnny Rocketti's (lead guitar and vocals) favorite, 'Long Road Home.' "It's about trying to be a Christian. Things happen and you fall, it's hard to get back. That's the long road home back to where you want to be."
It's a full album of eleven solid swing songs that impressively capture their infectious live sound. Of course the CD is no substitute for a live Deluxtone Rockets show.
