Some may say this is beautiful classic Christian music. Others would say that this music is "sleeper" music because it is boring. But please keep in mind, if it weren't for these classic songs in Christian music, there probably would be no Christian music at all today. The timelessness of these songs is captured on the project Songs To Remember: 16 Sing-Along Christian Classics.
Featuring The Don Marsh Orchestra and The Brentwood Singers, this project is a compilation of what was considered contemporary Christian music in the 1970s. Many of the songs were written by pioneers in the contemporary Christian music scene: Andraé Crouch, Lanny Wolfe, Dottie Rambo, and Dallas Holm. The influence of these and other Christian artists is evident by their staying power in Christian music. In fact, with the recent release of an Andraé Crouch tribute album, many of Crouch's songs are again getting substantial exposure on the radio. Likewise, many of these songs find their way into churches and radio stations, even after all these years.
The arrangements of these classic songs are actually very pleasant. The singers have a gentleness in their voice that is felt by the listener as the message in the songs is meditated upon. The words to these songs are full of encouragement, hope, and peace.
Some of the classic songs included on this project are the Crouch ballad "My Tribute," Rambo's "We Shall Behold Him" (popularized by Sandi Patty), Wolfe's catchy "God's Wonderful People," and the unforgettable Holm classic "Rise Again." With 16 total songs, this project is worth having for the preservation of these songs, some of which have never been available on CD before. This collection provides an excellent history of the heritage of Christian music.
