The PolyEsthers' Saving Sunday Night is a decidedly lo-fi, eclectic bag of acoustic/pop/rock/country-fried/harmonica-laced wildness featuring light-hearted lyrics that celebrate faith, love, the great outdoors, and the simple joys of life. Imagine listening to an AM radio featuring the Beatles' White Album mashed with Neil Young, Danielson, and SpongeBob SquarePants and you just might be able to picture this refreshing bunch of hip and sunshiny tunes. Recommended if you are tired of listening to depressing modern rock "reality." Saving Sunday Night put an instant smile on my face with its funny lyrics and lighthearted and hopeful view of life.
This is not highly polished, prefab top 40 pop/rock. It is big fun indie rock in all its faded jeans and low-fidelity glory, sounding like it was recorded in a sweaty one-day session at the local studio. Check out the oh-so-hip praise of "Rockin' All Day" and the innocent ode to love "Sunshine on the Sunniest" for grins.
