These guys sound exactly like Oasis. Does no one else see this but me? I've read several reviews and a few biographies on this California quartet, but not one that I've come across so far has made a single reference to Oasis. Am I just nuts? I've heard comparisons to The Verve (which definitely have some merit), Coldplay (which definitely do not) and Pantera (which isn't actually true but I thought it would be funny to say anyway).
Though Shore vocalist, Ben Ashley, can pull off a flawless Liam Gallagher impression, he doesn't get quite as far mimicking Noel's melodious songwriting. Standout tracks like "Hard Road," "Take What's Mine" and "Coming Down" are all examples of respectable, catchy alternative rock, but simplicity and conventional chord progression are what make these songs so easy on the ears, not their creativity or "freshness." And seriously... just how many songs can one band sing about the sun?!
The Shore are not bad or good. They're bood. And hopefully on their next album they can stop ripping off other groups, take a few more chances and develop their own sound. This album however, is for people who take their Oasis with a cream and two sugars.
