A string quartet covering Enya songs: can it be done? As an Enya fan, I didn't quite think so. Enya's songs are so full of bold music and feeling, not to mention her exquisite vocals. But all 12 tracks of this aptly named album are played by 'the section,' which contains 2 violins, a viola and cello, and surprisingly, the songs do sound quite good even though there are only 4 instruments. They capture the most important sounds of the music (even though it does lack the vocals), so each song is easily identifiable, though it will be easier to recognize them if you're already familiar with Enya's work.
The songs are relaxing, but do tend to blend into one another by the end of the album, so it might be good to use as background music rather than something to listen to with full attention. But overall it is a well-produced, peaceful album.
