Sometimes, when you study industrial music, you evaluate what the artist is using and doing with those sounds, as if you're giving him or her a scholastic test - "Are they showing a grasp of the masters? Are they tipping their hat to this?" This allows for positive criticism for somewhat esoteric and non-commercial works. I often find myself as the art slob in this genre, saying, "I don't know much about art, but I know what I like!" Therefore, I enjoy the excursions that theCELLexperiment make into the harder, distortion-based rock side of industrial. And I react more studiously to the blip and experimental songs.
