Turnerjoy has a solid investment in melodic space-pop complete with clean sounds, deep yet laughable lyrics and elegant timing. Tempting and engaging, I found the Cigarettes and Servant EP to be exactly what a promo should be.
Their tonal qualities bring to mind many good bands that smack of indie bliss; to name a few are artists such as Brian Wilson, Yo La Tengo, Apples in Stereo, The Flaming Lips, Spiritualized, and Stone Roses. In fact, the list of mentionable family members could keep going on because it's clear that they own a sophisticated understanding of the essential elements of good pop music.
I am interested to hear where they take this polished brand of sound on the full-length.
